Adoption Day :: Lancaster

Adoption Saturday
July 15, 2000
Lancaster, California

Attorney L Ernestine Fields, Founder/President of Comfort for Court Kids®, Inc. and Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich,
Fifth District, County of Los Angeles.

Through the efforts of the Board of Supervisors, County of Los Angeles, the Superior Court of the State of California, County of Los Angeles, the Department of Children and Family Services, County of Los Angeles, The Alliance for Children's Rights, Public Counsel and Comfort for Court Kids®, Inc., forty two children were adopted at the Courthouse in their local community, thus saving the families and their friends a very long trip on the freeways to the Children's Court
in Monterey Park.

Teddy Bears were waiting in each Courtroom, ready to go home with their new families.
Before the day was over, approximately one hundred Teddy Bears went home with the adopted children, their sisters, brothers, cousins and friends where they will remain a symbol of/and a reminder of this very important day.
